Man Strikes Healthcare Worker in the Face with Ashtray: Details
The rector of Yerevan State Medical University, Armen Muradyan, wrote on his Facebook page: “I just learned from the news that once again, violence has been inflicted upon a healthcare worker in Armenia. It is unacceptable and inhumane when a person raises their hand against a healthcare worker while they are fulfilling their professional duties. Such incidents must be subjected to the strictest punishment and condemnation. Let us not forget that the moral damage caused by such acts affects not only the healthcare worker but our entire society. Such phenomena create an unhealthy atmosphere of mutual distrust.
In any case, any act of aggression against a healthcare worker is condemnable, and it must receive an appropriate response from society. It is unacceptable to show disrespect towards those healthcare workers who provide professional assistance to patients, caring for their health and lives.”
Muradyan also remarked that violence against healthcare workers is not befitting our people and our society.
It is worth noting that today, the police of Shirak Province received a report from the emergency medical service that a 31-year-old healthcare worker with craniocerebral injuries has been transferred to the “Gyumri” medical center from the village of Azatana. The young man stated that around 05:10, he responded to a call for assistance at one of the houses on 28th Street in the village of Azatana, where, while providing assistance to a 75-year-old citizen, the citizen’s son, a 44-year-old man, struck him in the face with an ashtray, causing bodily harm. A report has been filed by the victim. The 44-year-old man has been arrested and taken to the Community Police Department of Akhuryan.
