1000 Car Accidents in One Day: The Situation on Armenia's Roads

The Union of Insurers of Armenia has reported that the insurance system is operating under extreme strain and in an emergency mode.

"Since February 20, a significant number of traffic accidents have been recorded in Armenia due to unfavorable weather conditions. The six insurance companies handling mandatory insurance policies have registered more than 1000 accidents in just one day. This is an unprecedented situation, the system is overloaded, and telephone lines are congested. At the same time, each insurance company is working in emergency mode in coordination with the relevant services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, aiming to service all incidents in a timely manner. We advise citizens to travel exclusively on winter tires. We wish safe and secure roads," the statement reads.
