Which Countries Oppose Ukraine's NATO Membership
Most European leaders support Ukraine's membership, with the exception of Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, and the United States. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as reported by RBK-Ukraine, citing the Turkish Anadolu Agency.
“However, the U.S. factor plays a significant role in shaping these opinions,” he told reporters after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Ankara Airport.
Zelensky noted President Erdoğan's support for Ukraine's future NATO membership. “If NATO is not an option, what kind of security guarantees are we talking about?” he emphasized, stating that his country has a strong army, but maintaining it constantly requires weapons and money.
Pointing out that Ukraine also needs economic security guarantees, Zelensky mentioned that “for this, we need to enter a large market like the European Union.”
