Negotiations Between Russian and American Delegations Kicked Off in Riyadh

Negotiations have begun between the Russian and American delegations in Riyadh. The discussions are taking place at one of the royal family’s palaces, the Diriyah complex.

On the eve of the talks, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov arrived in Riyadh to engage with the American delegation. Ushakov has indicated that Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, may join the Russian representatives to discuss economic issues.

The American delegation will include Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Advisor Mike Woltz, and Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Vitkoff. The meeting aims to discuss the full range of bilateral relations, as well as preparations for a summit between the leaders of Russia and the U.S., along with potential negotiations for resolving the situation in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had a phone conversation last Wednesday, lasting nearly an hour and a half. The leaders discussed issues related to the exchange of Russian and American citizens, as well as matters concerning the resolution of the situation in Ukraine.
