Could Be, Could Also Not Be: Peskov
Russian President Vladimir Putin's negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump could take place in February or later. This was stated by Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov to reporters.
“Western media write a lot, our media write a lot... It could happen, or it might not,” said Peskov in response to a question about whether negotiations between Putin and Trump could occur before the end of February.
At the same time, he noted that some preparation would be required from the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Peskov emphasized that relations between Russia and the U.S. need restoration, as the former U.S. administration inflicted targeted damage on them.
Regarding the appointment of a Russian negotiator on the issue of Ukraine, Peskov stated that the Russian president would make a decision after the U.S. does. “When the American side decides, depending on who that will be, our president will make a decision regarding our representative,” said Putin's spokesman.
He described negotiations with the U.S. as an important step for the resolution of the Ukrainian issue.
