Zahharova Comments on Armenia's EU Membership Process

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has commented on the start of the process for Armenia's membership in the European Union following a decision by the Armenian Parliament.

"The issue is not about political preferences but rather about the regulatory frameworks and tariff systems on which the cooperation is built within the EEU and the EU," she stated. According to her, this process reflects Armenia's sovereign choice.

"It is not the EEU, but the current authorities of Armenia that bear the responsibility for explaining to the population the consequences of the steps they have planned. To complete the picture, it is also necessary to provide examples from recent history of how similar steps ended," Zahharova added.
