Whatever the Road, Azerbaijan Will Call It a Corridor: Simonian
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, assured reporters that in the context of unblocking communications in the region, Azerbaijan will refer to any road connecting Nakhichevan as a 'corridor.'
He noted that the negotiations are based on the principle that unblocking will occur under the sovereignty of the countries involved. 'It is clear that for Azerbaijan, the connection with their exclave is very important, and Armenia has expressed its stance and proposals regarding this matter,' Simonian stated.
The Speaker of the National Assembly also addressed the rhetoric coming from Azerbaijan. 'Whatever the road is, whether it is perceived positively by us or negatively by them, they will still call it a 'corridor.' Let's fix that. Even if there are no privileges whatsoever, they will politically still claim there is a corridor. A 'corridor' that is not under the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, and is outside of our legislation, is unacceptable for us. No matter what happens or what the final outcome is, they will say that they got their 'corridor.' Whenever they need, they interpret it as they wish,' he added.
