Trump May Shut Down Consulates
NBC News has reported that U.S. President Donald Trump's administration may shut down several consulates around the world in order to cut costs for the State Department.
It is noted that this includes consulates in the Pacific Islands, Canada, Mexico, as well as in Europe, particularly in Germany and France. NBC mentions that Trump has already been briefed on this initiative, but a decision on the timeline for its implementation has not yet been made.
It is worth recalling that billionaire Elon Musk's Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has begun a large-scale audit of U.S. budget expenditures. He expects to reduce government spending by $2 trillion.
