Actor Detained by Police

Today, on February 7, operational information was received by the patrol service of the Kotayk region’s division of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, indicating that the driver of a "Mazda 6" in Abovyan city was traveling with fake license plates.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Commander of the 2nd Battalion of the Patrol Service in Kotayk, David Hovhannisyan, along with the deputy commander Khachatur Eloyan, identified the vehicle's location. The patrol stopped the car on the Yerevan-Sevan M4 highway for exceeding the speed limit. It was confirmed that the operational information was accurate.

Upon checking the vehicle registration document issued by the Russian Federation presented by the driver, it was found that the document was fake, whereas the car should have had a license plate issued by Armenia. Based on reasonable suspicion stemming from the presentation of the counterfeit document, the patrol officers arrested the driver and transported him along with the vehicle to the Kotayk division of the RA Police Community Police Department, while the car was taken to a secured area.

Documents are being processed at the Kotayk Police Station regarding the incident. According to the photojournalist's information, the driver is a well-known actor in Armenia, and his identity is withheld for the sake of the investigation.
