Dual Citizens Will Be Able to Drive in Armenia with Foreign Driver’s License for 1 Month
Member of Parliament Garnik Danielyan has announced that dual citizens in the Republic of Armenia, specifically ethnic Armenians from Javakhk who drive with Georgian passports and driver's licenses, are facing numerous fines. On his Facebook page, the MP stated that many Javakhk Armenians have approached him to voice their concerns about this situation.
According to Danielyan, many Javakhk Armenians obtained dual citizenship in recent years but enter Armenia with Georgian documents. The Armenian Patrol Service fines them based on the current legal requirements.
In an interview with Armenpress, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, acknowledged that the issue is known to them. He revealed that a legislative initiative is currently being introduced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs that will allow dual citizens to drive in Armenia with a foreign driver's license for up to one month.
