New Virus Could Steal Data from iPhone Photos

A virus has been discovered that can steal data from iPhone photos. This was reported by specialists from Kaspersky Lab to РИА Новости on February 4.

The SparkCat virus was found in 20 applications on the App Store and Google Play, disguised as messengers, smart assistants, and delivery services. After gaining access to photos, the application scans the images and, if it finds keywords, sends them to the perpetrators. The virus is interested in any personal or sensitive information.

This is the first known case of such a virus integrating into iPhone applications. Nexta Live shared that this confirms even the closed iOS ecosystem is vulnerable.

Experts are urging to tighten App Store security and recommend that users be more cautious in choosing applications and updating their operating systems.
