Increase in Transportation Costs May Lead to Inflation of No More Than 0.1%: Central Bank Chairman

In Yerevan, the increase in urban transportation costs may result in an inflation rate of no more than 0.1%. This was stated during a press conference by the Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia, Martin Galstyan.

He mentioned that the share of urban transportation in the overall basket of goods and services in Armenia is estimated at 0.4% (according to the methodology of the National Statistical Committee of the Republic), which includes a 0.23% share for Yerevan's transport (the remainder pertains to regional transport).

According to Galstyan's explanation, the cited 0.1% inflation is a theoretical maximum based on the assumption that the fare for all passengers will be set at 150 drams, which indicates a one-and-a-half times increase (however, some passengers benefit from preferential rates).
