Changes in the Process of Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits
The adoption of the draft law is conditioned by the requirement of the Government's 2021-2026 action program, according to which maternity benefits will be assigned and paid by the Unified Social Service based on the data of the electronic health system. This was stated by Davit Khachatryan, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs. This information was reported by the National Assembly.
On February 4, during the session of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs of the National Assembly, the draft package on making amendments and additions to the law on "Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits" and the law on "State Benefits" was discussed in the first reading.
If the legislative initiative is adopted, the process of assigning temporary disability and maternity benefits will be improved and targeted implementation will be ensured, as the Unified Social Service will assign and pay the benefits based on the data from the electronic health system. The establishment of the electronic health system will allow non-working individuals to carry out the benefits assignment process without the need to visit the territorial center and submit documents, through automatic exchange of necessary information for maternity benefits.
Presenting the proposed changes and additions in detail, Davit Khachatryan answered the questions of the deputies. Referring to the timeframe for the implementation of the legislative package, the main reporter expressed confidence that by September 1, the digital system will be established, which will fully allow the issues to be resolved electronically. The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs emphasized the importance of adopting the draft law and suggested voting in favor. The draft received a positive conclusion.
