Trump Holds Serious Discussion with Putin

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he is engaged in "very serious" discussions with Russia regarding the end of the conflict in Ukraine.

"We are having very serious discussions... with Russia, yes," he told reporters at the White House when asked about dialogue between Washington and Moscow regarding the conclusion of the conflict in Ukraine.

Trump also promised that he would "speak" with Russian leader Vladimir Putin about ending the conflict in Ukraine and may possibly achieve "some significant results." At the same time, the new head of the White House reiterated his intention to bring an end to the conflict in Ukraine.

Just a day prior, Trump had refrained from disclosing details about his communications with the leaders of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, respectively, but noted that the situation in that regard is "developing very well."

On Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov again emphasized that there is currently no plan for communications between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. Earlier, Putin stated that he was ready to calmly discuss with Trump all directions of interest to both countries.

Trump has expressed his desire to meet with Putin "immediately." Moscow has repeatedly indicated its readiness for negotiations on the issue of Ukraine; however, Kyiv imposed a legislative ban on such communications in October 2022.
