Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine on Strike
The press release from ZPМК LLC and the ZPМК LLC trade union states:
On January 31, 2025, due to violations of labor legislation and employment contracts in the Republic of Armenia, several employees of ZPМК LLC (hereinafter referred to as the Company) did not report to work, did not begin performing their job duties, or left their workplaces, making an ultimatum demand for an unrealistic salary increase. This has sabotaged the work process in the Company, as reported to Auroranews by the Company's spokesperson.
The ZPМК LLC union does not consider these actions a strike and does not support them, deeming them unlawful. Due to the employees' illegal actions, the Company's production cycle has been disrupted, resulting in significant material losses for both the Company and its remaining employees. If these unlawful actions continue, the Company will be forced to send a significant number of its employees to mandatory downtime.
Considering the above and in the interests of the overwhelming majority of ZPМК LLC and Company employees, the Company will exercise its rights to impose disciplinary responsibility on those violating their labor obligations in accordance with Chapter 21 of the RA Labor Code. The spokesperson urges to refrain from preparing, publishing, and disseminating such materials.
It is worth noting that more than 700 employees of the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine have been on strike, demanding a 50% increase in salaries (by 130-150 thousand AMD).
