There Are Reasons to Believe Azerbaijan Has Such Intentions: Pashinyan
Armenia is open to the resolution of the OSCE Minsk Group if Yerevan and Baku are doing it for the same purpose — to establish and strengthen peace. This was stated today during a press conference by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, Yerevan's position is that if there is no conflict, then what is the point of a format dealing with the servicing of the conflict? However, Armenia wants to ensure that Azerbaijan also shares this view regarding the process. If Azerbaijan's intention is to dissolve the Minsk Group and initiate a new conflict against Armenia based on territorial claims, then, of course, Yerevan opposes it.
“If it means peace, what do we need the Minsk Group for? But if the dissolution of the format somehow helps Azerbaijan to create a conflict, then what is the point of dissolving that group? In other words, if dissolving it allows Azerbaijan to form and deepen new territorial claims against Armenia, then why do it?” emphasized Pashinyan.
Pashinyan also declared that there are grounds to believe Azerbaijan has such intentions. “The phrase 'Eastern Azerbaijan' is a direct encroachment on Armenia's territorial integrity,” he noted. According to him, this constitutes an infringement on Armenia's territorial integrity.
