Pashinyan Discusses the Reality Faced After the War

It is crucial for our future development to have a clear concept of the real Armenia, the ability to change and transform through education and work. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with representatives of the Swiss-Armenian community, mentioning that he had raised this issue even after the 44-day war in 2020.

Pashinyan shared a video of over an hour from the meeting, stating, “After the war, I confronted the reality that when we say homeland, we understand different things. This is a phenomenal phenomenon for both the public and political circles. In political discourse and programs, 'homeland' has various forms and dimensions for us. My understanding has been that we have a fundamental problem here, and in many cases, this is the reason we cannot pinpoint the agenda for state formation, because we do not record what that state is, what parameters it has. This is where the concept of the real Armenia was born,” he noted.

According to him, when referring to the homeland, one should only understand the Republic of Armenia. Pashinyan also pointed out that throughout the history of the Third Republic, the discourse of “we must be guided by national or state interests” has been voiced many times, but no one has clarified what that entails.

“No one has said, ‘People, what is our national interest, and what is our state interest?’ Do national and state interests differ in any way? In our reality, what distinguishes the notion of nation from that of people? This has also become part of the political agenda, a question that needs an answer,” Pashinyan concluded.
