California May Exit the United States

The Secretary of State for California, Shirley Weber, has approved the "Calexit" initiative. A petition has been launched in the region to withdraw the state from the United States. This has been reported by American newspapers.

If 55% of residents support the idea in a referendum, California could achieve independence in 2028 and become a state with one of the world's largest economies. According to the International Monetary Fund's World Economic Outlook data for 2023, California had the fifth largest economy in the world, falling behind Japan and surpassing India and Great Britain.

It is the most densely populated state, home to nearly 40 million residents.
