Lukashenko Reveals Where the 'Oreshnik' Will Be Deployed

The Russian advanced ballistic 'Oreshnik' missile launching system, which is set to be installed on Belarusian territory, will be located closer to Smolensk. This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko on January 26.

“We will literally have the 'Oreshnik' in a few days. We agreed with President Putin that the next equipment will be delivered to Belarus even sooner than to Russia,” he said while speaking to reporters.

In December 2024, Alexander Lukashenko asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for the deployment of 'Oreshnik' missile systems in the country's territory. Putin confirmed that such plans could be implemented as early as 2025, which is viewed as part of a strategic deterrent against Western countries.

Colonel Andrey Bogodel from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus noted that the deployment of these missiles aims to prevent aggression from countries that perceive Russia as an enemy.
