Mirzoyan Discussed All Issues with Lavrov, Says Hovhannisyan
During the discussion of the bill on the commencement of Armenia's membership process in the EU in the National Assembly, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Paruyr Hovhannisyan informed that all issues were discussed with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov during Foreign Minister Mirzoyan's visit to Moscow.
"It was specifically noted that all issues were discussed in a constructive atmosphere, and there was no issue left without a dialogue of understanding," Hovhannisyan noted in response to a question from Armenia bloc MP Armen Gevorgyan, regarding whether there was an opportunity to discuss the statements of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk concerning Armenia's membership in the EU through official channels.
Addressing the question of whether the Russian side has fully understood Armenia’s initiative to start the EU membership process, and whether the geopolitical risks of the bill are being considered, the deputy minister stated that such discussions are ongoing. "All circumstances have been discussed and continue to be discussed. Just as with Russia, we engage in such dialogue with all our key partners. During the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ visit to Moscow, the Deputy Foreign Minister was in Tehran, also discussing our entire agenda. We have the same dynamics with China and India. At this moment, I cannot provide you with more detailed information, but I assure you that diversification and a balanced policy remain the main direction of our policy. Our initiatives and activities in all directions are aimed at securing our national interests and creating more favorable conditions," he said.
