Sanctions Against Russia to Be Imposed, Trump Says

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that sanctions are likely to be imposed against Russia if President Vladimir Putin refuses to negotiate to end the war in Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters.

Trump did not provide details on potential additional sanctions. He only mentioned that his administration is also discussing the issue of sending weapons to Ukraine, adding that he believes the European Union should do more to support Ukraine.

“We have spoken with Ukrainian President Zelensky, and we are planning to speak with President Putin very soon,” Trump said.

Trump has called on Chinese President Xi Jinping to intervene to help cease the war in Ukraine, saying, “He hasn’t done much in that direction. He has a lot of power, just like we do.”
