Netanyahu Aiming to Initiate Military Action Against Us, Says Hamas Leader

The leader of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Zakhar Jabari, has stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wishes to commence military operations in the West Bank to maintain power for a longer period. This information was reported by РИА Новости.

His claims were made in the context of the Israeli Defense Forces' (IDF) anti-terror operations in the Jenin area, announced by the Israeli army's press service on Tuesday. Shortly thereafter, Netanyahu announced the launch of the 'Iron Wall' operation, describing its objective as strengthening security in the West Bank along the Jordan River.

'Netanyahu... wants to continue military operations at least on one front to remain in power, including in the West Bank. Netanyahu now intends to initiate combat against us...' Jabari stated in an interview with Al Jazeera.

The Hamas spokesperson also noted that most of the Palestinians imprisoned for life, whom Israel is supposed to release as part of the ceasefire agreement, are members of the Fatah and Hamas movements, but that there are also members from other movements and parties among them.
