Yerevan's Response Raises Questions: Maria Zakharova
The emotional negative reaction from Armenia regarding the statements made by a journalist on Russian television about the Zangezur corridor raises questions, as Moscow's official stance is well known to Yerevan. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing.
“Frankly speaking, this response raises questions because it concerns the expressions of a journalist,” she said. Zakharova noted, “We have always heard from Yerevan that Armenia is committed to freedom of speech, and furthermore, the current leadership of Armenia has made this their imperative. First and foremost, our official stance is not just an opinion but the official position of the state, which is well known to Yerevan.”
It is noteworthy that earlier we reported that the Russian ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, was summoned to the Armenian Foreign Ministry. Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hayrapetyan, commenting on the summoning of the Russian ambassador and the filing of a protest, stated that inappropriate theses and narratives had been circulated by Dmitry Kiselev on the ‘Rossiya 1’ television channel, which are against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. He noted that the broadcast of Kiselev's program could be blocked in our country. Kiselev had commented on the prohibition of his program in Armenia.
