Hayrapetyan Provides Details on the Protest Note Against Russia

You may have heard recent statements made by Dmitry Kiselyov on the Russia 1 TV channel, which included certain unacceptable theses and messages generated by artificial intelligence that contradict Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This was mentioned by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hayrapetyan during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly, referring to the recall of the Russian Ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the submission of a protest note.

“As a result, yes, today the ambassador has been convened at the MFA and a protest note has been handed over in this regard. If you recall, there was a similar unacceptable broadcast that has been blocked, both in the public multiplex area and by cable operators. Our impression is that our audience is not particularly missing that broadcast. Just like in the previous incident, the broadcast of Kiselyov's program can also be blocked in our country. Therefore, any broadcasts that air in our territory must comply with the content standards established by law, just like other local Armenian TV channels follow those rules. I believe that the Armenian government's expectations in this case are legitimate, objective, and fair.

“Consequently, we have submitted a complaint today to the Commission on Television and Radio. As a result, we will receive a specific response from our partners in the CRC, and after that, the Minister of High-Tech Industry and the government will clarify their actions based on that,” the minister stated.

When asked specifically what was said that contradicted Armenia's sovereignty, Hayrapetyan replied, “I do not want to go point by point over the theses that are already unacceptable and inadmissible to us, so I will not share them further. I can only say generally that during that broadcast, references were made to Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.”

“Taking this opportunity, I would like to emphasize again that Armenia has proposed its vision and package of proposals to facilitate the resolution of relations and accelerate the processes of regional peace. This has a clear name, called the Peace Intersection. The same Peace Intersection also proposes specific solutions regarding railway passenger transport between the main parts of Azerbaijan and Nakhichevan. It is important to note that we are speaking not merely about an offer, but about specific solutions, and the Armenian government is awaiting a positive response from the Azerbaijani side.”

He reiterated that all content broadcasted by international channels that directly contradict Armenia's national interests will be seriously reassessed by Armenia, and if necessary, their broadcasting will be blocked.
