Shirak Dry Port to Become a Major Transportation Hub, Papoyan Says
In the event of the implementation of the "Crossroad of Peace" program and the establishment of peace, the "Shirak Dry Port" project is highly feasible and is set to become a significant transportation hub in the region. This was announced by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan during a press conference summarizing 2024.
He noted that a technical and economic study has been conducted for the "Shirak Dry Port" industrial park project. "We can state that if the 'Crossroad of Peace' program is launched, implemented, and peace is established, this project is highly feasible. In that case, the 'Shirak Dry Port' will become a significant transportation hub in the region," Papoyan said.
The minister emphasized that the "Crossroad of Peace" is not merely an idea, but a concrete program. This specific program primarily involves the complete construction and operation of the North-South corridor. Furthermore, it entails the development of the railway network. There is a technical and economic study outlining the specific actions needed. According to the minister, everything is feasible.
