The EC member and permanent rapporteur on Armenia, Miriame Lexmann, has welcomed the decision of the Armenian government to start the process of joining the European Union. She noted this in a post on her microblog.

"I sincerely welcome the decision of the Armenian government to initiate the EU membership process. Those who meet the necessary conditions and share our values should always be welcome," she wrote.
