Armenia Considers Requesting OSCE to Dissolve Co-Chairmanship: Nazeli Baghdasaryan

The Republic of Armenia is considering the possibility of appealing to the OSCE regarding the dissolution of the Co-Chairmanship. In an interview with Armenpress on December 19, 2024, Prime Minister Pashinyan responded to the question of Armenia's position on the idea of dissolving the OSCE Co-Chairmanship by stating: (quote) "Constructive. We understand the position that if there is no conflict, what is the point of the existence of a format dealing with conflict resolution? But we also want to ensure that Azerbaijan approaches the issue with the same logic, and that their impetus, for example, does not manifest as an aggressive policy towards the territory of the Republic of Armenia through the development of the so-called 'Western Azerbaijan' discourse" (end of quote). This was written by Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the press secretary of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, on her Facebook page.

In a post on his Facebook page on January 8, 2025, Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized that there is no and cannot be a Western Azerbaijan in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, highlighting the necessity for Azerbaijan to abandon this discourse, which calls into question the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, and to establish peace. The Republic of Armenia unequivocally and unambiguously recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and is ready to reaffirm this through the signing of a peace treaty, as well as through the implementation of other initiatives and actions mentioned in the above statement. It is important that Azerbaijan also unequivocally and unambiguously recognizes the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia," she wrote.
