Peskov on Relations with Yerevan and Baku
Moscow is interested in peace, stability, and security in the Caucasus and will continue to develop relations with Baku and Yerevan. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, while commenting on mutual accusations between Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding the escalation of tensions in the region. He emphasized that the South Caucasus is not a distant region for Russia.
“We want peace, stability, predictability, trust, and security in the Caucasus. We enjoy good relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, and we cherish those relationships. We intend to do everything we can to further develop those relations,” said the Kremlin representative.
When asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin has recently communicated with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Peskov replied that “there have been no communications in recent days.”
