Trudeau Rejects Trump's Proposal
Canadian authorities categorically disagreed on January 7 with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's proposal for Canada to become part of the United States. “Our economy is strong. Our people are strong. We will never back down in the face of threats,” wrote Canada's Foreign Minister on social media.
“There is no chance that Canada will become part of the United States. Our working and local communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s largest partners in trade and security,” wrote Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
It is noteworthy that Trump had posted an image on Truth Social where Canada is shaded the same color as the United States, with both labeled in black as “United States.” Neighboring Mexico is marked in a different color, and only its northern part is shown in the image.
