Death Toll from Devastating Earthquake in China Continues to Rise

The death toll from the powerful earthquake in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China has reached 95, with 130 injured, according to Xinhua news agency.
The earthquake, measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale, struck the southwestern part of China in the morning.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has ordered maximum efforts be made to carry out search and rescue operations and provide medical assistance to the victims. He also urged the need to work on preventing secondary disasters, properly resettling affected residents, and effectively addressing the aftermath of the disaster.
