The Oil Spill Reaches Sevastopol, Governor Reports

The oil spill has reached Sevastopol, detected near the entrance of Balaklava Bay. This was announced by the governor, Razvozhaev.

He clarified that the spill covers an area of 1.5x1.5 meters. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, pollution has also been identified in the Lenin District of Crimea, where a state of emergency has been in effect since December 28. The length of the contaminated area is 18 kilometers.

According to the governor, several birds have been found affected by the oil in the Uchkuyevka, Laspi, and Omega coastal regions. To rescue them, a reception point for birds has been opened at the city's veterinary center, Razvozhaev reported. He added that rescuers and the Sevmorprirodnadzor will be responsible for collecting the oil spill.
