Georgian President Signs Series of Restrictive Laws

The newly elected President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, has signed a series of restrictive laws. Among these laws are regulations concerning organized blocking of roads or participation in group movements when the roadway is completely obstructed.

Unauthorized installation of protest banners and inscriptions that spoil the external appearance of the city is also prohibited. Additionally, the use of pyrotechnics and lasers during gatherings and demonstrations, which could interfere with police operations, has been restricted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

President Kavelashvili has also banned covering one's face during protests. The law will prohibit the placement of unauthorized inscriptions, drawings, and symbols on the facades of buildings, shop windows, fences, poles, trees, as well as the placement of posters and slogans in unapproved spaces.

The application of unauthorized inscriptions, drawings, and symbols on the facades of government buildings and their surrounding areas is also banned.
