Details on the Meeting between Families of the Missing and Kocharyan

Parliamentary hearings will be convened following a two-hour meeting held in the National Assembly with the families of those missing. This was stated to "Azatutyun" by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.

According to him, relevant officials from the appropriate agencies will be invited, and the concerns of the relatives of the missing persons will be the subject of discussion.

The relatives of the missing persons met with Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the National Assembly's Defense Committee and head of the investigation committee on the 44-day war. This meeting was arranged yesterday, when after several hours of blocking Baghramyan Avenue, Alen Simonyan met with them and promised to organize a meeting with Kocharyan. The Speaker of the Parliament was also present at the meeting.

They are also demanding access to the report of the investigative commission. Alen Simonyan clarified that after presenting the report at a National Assembly session in January, they would try to understand how they could create legal opportunities to allow some relatives of the missing to access it under conditions of confidentiality.

Kocharyan had previously stated that, considering the presence of classified information in the document, it would be presented in a closed session. In that case, it is unclear to what extent the public will learn about the reasons for the defeat and losses of the war.

He also mentioned that "thousands of criminal cases will follow" the report.
