Peskov's Response to Demands for Apology from Azerbaijan

The Kremlin is aware of statements from Baku regarding the demand for Russia to apologize for the downing of an Azerbaijani aircraft by anti-air defense measures, but has not yet commented on the situation, as the investigation into the causes of the aviation incident has not concluded. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the President of Russia, made this announcement.

“Of course, we have seen them, but I have nothing more to add to that. I have already said everything,” Peskov responded when asked if the Kremlin had seen the statement from Azerbaijani MP Rasim Musabekov. “An investigation is ongoing into this aviation incident, and before any conclusions are drawn based on the investigation's results, we do not consider ourselves entitled to give any assessments and will not do so. We have our aviation authorities who can do that, and that information can only come from them,” emphasized the Kremlin spokesperson.

It is worth noting that Azerbaijani media has reported that Azerbaijan has rejected financial and other assistance proposed by Ramzan Kadyrov. “Neither the state nor the citizens will accept such help. We are providing and will continue to provide the necessary assistance to our citizens. Azerbaijan demands recognition of the fact, an apology, and appropriate compensation,” the media reported.
