Suspect Arrested in Magdeburg Terror Attack: New Details

The court has ordered the arrest of a man suspected of plowing into visitors at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, according to a press release published on the Saxony-Anhalt police website.

"The Magdeburg prosecutor's office has requested an arrest warrant for attempted murder and multiple counts of attempted murder, which has been granted by the Magdeburg District Court. The judge has imposed pre-trial detention for five counts of murder, attempted murder, and causing serious bodily harm," the release states.

According to police reports, the attack resulted in the death of a 9-year-old boy and four women aged 52, 45, 75, and 67 years.

Earlier reports indicated that the assailant had entered the Christmas market area of Magdeburg using a road designated for emergency service vehicles.
