US Has Directly Engaged with Syrian Rebel Leadership: Blinken

Blinken asserts that the US has directly engaged with the leadership of Syrian rebels.

The US has held direct negotiations with the rebel group that seized power in Syria, Secretary of State Blinken announced during a visit to Jordan, which was focused on post-Assad regime actions.

Blinken also mentioned the potential for sanctions relief, stating that the US will "consider various sanctions and other measures we have taken and will respond to them" if the transitional period following the fall of Assad’s regime in Syria meets the goals set by the US.

According to Blinken, American officials have directly communicated with groups like Hayat Tahrir al-Sham on several principles that the US and its Arab partners wish to adhere to in the political reform process in Syria.
