South Korean Parliament Upholds President's Impeachment
The South Korean parliament has upheld President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment. This was reported by a correspondent from RIA Novosti from the National Assembly's voting hall.
“The confirmation of impeachment is a decision made in accordance with the promise to uphold the Constitution, which has been solemnly brought forth as a representative of the people,” stated the parliament's speaker, Woo Sang-ho, as he noted the voting results.
A total of 204 lawmakers voted in favor of removing the country's leader, while 85 voted against. Three abstained, and eight ballots were declared invalid.
