Russia Has Fulfilled Its Mission, Peskov Says

Russia has timely fulfilled its mission by providing assistance to Syria and exerting significant efforts; the rest is now the work of the regime led by Assad. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.

“Russia has helped the Syrian Arab Republic withstand the terrorists and stabilize the situation when it was threatening the entire region. And a lot of effort was made for this; at that time, Russia fulfilled its mission. The rest is the business of the regime led by Assad; it was Assad’s leadership that was working in this country, engaging in its development,” Peskov said in response to a question on whether the Kremlin believes that the special military operation has contributed to Russia's weakening in the Middle East.
