What Impact Will the Change in Transport Prices in Yerevan Have on Inflation?

The change in public transport fares in Yerevan may have an impact of up to 0.5 percent on inflation in the country. This was stated by the President of the Central Bank, Martin Galstyan, during a press conference.

“We expect that the maximum impact we may see over the next year due to the change in transport prices will be up to 0.5 percent,” noted the Central Bank president.

It is worth mentioning that according to the decision made by the Yerevan City Council, new public transport fares will come into effect starting January 1, 2025. According to the change, the 100 dram fare will be abolished, and ticket packages will be proposed, for example, monthly and annual tickets.
