Syria May Have Stockpiles of Chemical Weapons, Pentagon Says
The Pentagon believes that Syria may have stockpiles of chemical weapons, and the United States is working through partners to prevent their use against its forces or the civilian population. This was stated by Deputy Press Secretary of the U.S. Department of Defense Sabrina Singh during a press briefing on Monday, according to TASS.
“When it comes to the issue of chemical weapons, we are giving it our main focus,” she said. “We are trying to ensure that this chemical weapon does not fall into the hands of those who would want to use it against the civilian population, U.S. forces, or their partners in the region,” Singh added.
The Pentagon spokesperson clarified that U.S. military personnel are not directly involved in this matter but operate through partners. “We have experience in this area and are working on the ground through our partners to prevent these weapons from falling into the wrong hands,” Singh assured.
