Rubinyan Discusses What Determines the Success of Relations with Turkey
Last month, a meeting took place between representatives of various agencies from Armenia and Turkey at the Armenian-Turkish border. This information was reported to "Liberty" by Armenia's envoy and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ruben Rubinyan. However, no official information was disclosed by either side regarding the meeting during those days.
"The technical needs were assessed, which would enable the operation of the Akhurik/Akyaka railway border crossing. The meeting was held in a positive and constructive atmosphere," Rubinyan stated.
During their last meeting in the summer, the special envoys of Armenia and Turkey, Ruben Rubinyan and Serdar Kilic, agreed to jointly assess the technical requirements for the border crossing via the Gyumri-Kars railway.
Rubinyan, the chief negotiator for the normalization of relations with Turkey, has stated repeatedly that success depends on Ankara's political will. Armenia expects not only the implementation of the agreements reached but also a comprehensive normalization of relations without preconditions.
