Mandatory Winter Tires Requirement Enforced Starting Today

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement announcing that the mandatory requirement for driving with winter tires has come into effect.

Starting today, the legislative regulation stipulating that the use of winter tires is mandatory until March 31 has been enforced. The operation of vehicles will be prohibited if:

• Passenger cars and cargo vehicles with a maximum permissible mass of up to 3.5 tons are not equipped with winter tires;
• The tread depth of winter tires designed for operation in icy or snowy road conditions is 4 millimeters or less.
• The operation of vehicles will also be prohibited during June, July, and August if they are fitted with studded tires.

Administrative penalties will apply for violations of these requirements. The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to adhere to traffic rules to ensure the safety of all road users. Creating a safe environment for the life and health of citizens is a priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
