ISRAEL DESTROYS SYRIAN NAVY
Israeli military forces have destroyed Syrian naval vessels, according to The Times of Israel citing its sources. "Numerous ships of the Syrian naval forces, armed with 'sea-to-sea' class missiles, have been eliminated," the publication reports.
Earlier, Dmitry Gendelman, an advisor to the Israeli Prime Minister's office, had stated that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have expanded the security zone beyond the armistice line established after the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the separation agreement regarding forces with Syria in the Golan Heights has lost its validity as Syrian military personnel have vacated their positions. He clarified that under support from the Defense Minister and the Cabinet, he has ordered the IDF to occupy the separation zone.
It is noteworthy that until 1967, the Golan Heights were part of Syria but were captured by Israel during the Six-Day War.
