What is the Situation for Armenians in Kessab?
In Kessab, opposition forces have not caused any harm. This was reported to Armenpress by Talin Gazazean, a resident journalist and teacher in Kessab. She noted that the local Armenian community is in a secure situation.
“We are fine here now. They have not harmed us in any way and have not caused us any trouble. We, Armenians, are safe,” Gazazean said, adding that there is uncertainty in the area these days.
According to her, a meeting of Armenian clergymen and a dialogue with representatives of the opposition forces took place in a positive atmosphere, and the latter assured them of safety. “Gazazean reported that the armed individuals in Kessab even provided food supplies to residents, as there is a shortage of food in local trading points. ‘They said that everyone can open their shop and return to their work. Starting tomorrow, schools will also operate,’ Gazazean summarized,” the media outlet writes.
