Video: Kirakosyan on the Return of Armenian Prisoners
The representative of Armenia on international legal issues, Yeghishe Kirakosyan, does not see any indication that Yerevan is preparing to withdraw its lawsuits against Baku in international courts. He made this statement during a briefing with reporters.
“At this moment, we have no new lawsuits; we only have those that already exist. All procedures are continuing,” said Kirakosyan.
Regarding the possibility of returning Armenian prisoners, Kirakosyan mentioned that Yerevan had recently submitted such a request to the International Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, but both courts have determined that the issues fall outside their jurisdiction.
Kirakosyan emphasized that, in his opinion, the resolution of the prisoners' return issue lies on the political level. He did not comment on Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements that the parties could mutually withdraw lawsuits if a peace treaty is signed.
