Iran's Conditions for Syria
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stated that rejecting support for terrorism, respecting the rights of Syrian Shias, and distancing from Israel are the main conditions for Iran's cooperation with the new authorities in Syria.
“Our cooperation with those who will govern in Damascus depends on their behavior and policies towards the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Shias of Syria, as well as how far they are from the Zionist regime and terrorist groups,” the diplomat said during a broadcast on Iranian state television and radio.
“It is not easy to persuade different factions and clans to reach an agreement on the future government of Syria, but we support this process because we want the will of the Syrian people to prevail,” he said.
