New Law to Be Adopted in Georgia to Prevent Violence

The Georgian service of Sputnik agency reports that a new law will be adopted in Georgia, which will prohibit participants in demonstrations from covering their faces with masks or clothing.

“It is important to adopt such a law to prevent violence in the country. We will technically organize everything to ensure that the relevant law comes into force by the end of the month,” said Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili.

In early December, clashes occurred between opposition demonstrators and police in Tbilisi. Protesters used flammable materials and threw stones and bottles at the police, while the police employed water cannons.
