Syria Loses Control Over Key City
The Syrian government has lost control over the city of Daraa, which holds significant importance for Islamist militants, as well as over most of the corresponding province. This has been reported by AFP, citing the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).
Local factions have taken control of the territories in Daraa province, including the city of Daraa itself. They now control more than 90 percent of the province, as regime forces gradually withdraw their troops.
According to the organization, at the beginning of the day, Islamist groups seized the Nasib-Jaber border crossing on the border with Jordan. This crossing has already been closed by Jordan.
