Kurdish Militants Control Cities Near Syria-Iraq Border
The Kurdish militia units of the "Syrian Democratic Forces" coalition have taken control of the western part of Deir ez-Zor province and areas bordering Iraq that were previously under government troops' control. This information was reported in a statement from the coalition command, which was broadcast by the Rudaw television channel from Erbil.
The statement noted that the decision was made after Syrian forces and their supporting National Defense Forces (NDF) withdrew from Deir ez-Zor and the cities of Mayadin, as well as the Iraq border near Al-Bukamal.
Additionally, Kurdish fighters are now organizing defenses in several areas near the capital of Aleppo province in northern Syria. Currently, negotiations are ongoing regarding the evacuation of 250,000 people from Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo that are under siege.
