VIDEO: URGENT: Turkey-aligned Forces Arrive in Aleppo
Islamists and members of the Turkey-aligned 'Syrian opposition' have reached Aleppo. Fighting is ongoing in the outskirts of the city. The sudden attack by forces opposing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has now reached the country’s second-largest city.
Turkish media reports that the 'New Aleppo' neighborhood in the western part of the city is under the complete control of the opposition, who have seized several army bases and are publishing footage of killed officers, captured military equipment, and weapons.
Currently, they are approaching the Sheikh Maqsoud area, which is predominantly inhabited by Kurds.
Yesterday, sources from the Turkey-aligned 'Syrian National Army' reported that Turkey has effectively opened its border to allow various groups of Islamists to enter Syria to fight against Assad’s forces, although Turkish officials tell Western media that they do not support escalation.
Included among these groups are a significant number of representatives from Central Asia, such as fighters from Uzbekistan.
The Syrian army has deployed elite special forces to the city. The main attacking force consists of fighters from the 'Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham,' which is banned in Russia, who have seized an area of 400 square kilometers across Idlib and Aleppo provinces.
Russia has been conducting airstrikes on the positions of 'Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham' terrorists, but according to claims from the Turkey-aligned community, part of the heavy weaponry is being withdrawn from Aleppo to prevent loss.
Western media note that part of the success of the Islamists and the opposition stems from the heavy losses incurred by Hezbollah during its conflict with Israel in Lebanon. It has been noted that they have fought on Assad’s side in Syria.
Syrian media claim that some fighters in the country's army have had their communication devices (pager and radio) explode amid the backdrop of the assault by Turkey-aligned forces and Islamists in Aleppo.
